Driveway Cleaning and Sealing Costs
Material Costs, Labour Fees and Time Frame Estimates for Driveway Sealing and Cleaning
There are many benefits to sealing your block pave driveway or patio. Aside from making the spot spotless, stylish and elegant, the addition of a top quality sealer adds another layer of protection and security to your paving, especially against the elements. It is also good for the reduction of the effects of wearing and tearing.
Block paving can be quite costly to install so, it makes sense to get it sealed so such a costly investment isn’t unnecessarily wasted. Block paving is also effective at protecting the paving from unattractive stains as in the case of car oil leaks. It’s also helpful at preventing weed and algae growth and it is effective at extending the overall lifespan of your driveway. Block paving binds the jointing sand together so wear and fading are greatly reduced. This means that the paving colour gets preserved even several years from it was first installed.
To seal and clean your driveway, a pressure washer will be used to make sure that traces of algae and weed or old stains are removed. After the spot has been successfully cleaned and dried off, kiln dried sand is then used to get the joints refilled. Once done, any excess sand gets removed from its surfaces. The sealer application then follows.
Depending on what the manufacturer specifies, a squeegee, roller, or a brush is needed to perform the application. Most of the companies offering sealing and cleaning services for driveways can also be expected to offer masonry and brick cleaning. This would be ideal if you want to get the walls bordering the driveway to look nice and sparkling clean as well.
Driveway Sealing and Cleaning— Important Points to Consider
Getting your driveway cleaned, sanded, and sealed will usually cost about £8.50 to £12.50 for every square metre. However, the prices can vary depending on your location, the sealant type used as well as the overall size of your driveway can also have an effect on how much the final figures will be. The sealant used can have a huge impact on the price with “Resiblock” being the most expensive out there, but is highly recommended.
If you’re thinking of getting your driveway cleaned and sealed in the winter months, you might want to forego the idea. Moisture levels at winter time are generally very high— which means that the block paving isn’t going to properly dry out. There would be no point applying expensive sealants when they aren’t going to successfully adhere to the surface anyway.
It will just be a total waste of funds. Doing this in the winter will only cause the moisture to be trapped inside. There are unscrupulous companies out there that might offer to get the job done in the winter months for a considerably low price. Stay away from them!
